Bachelor of Music/Bachelor of Education, Master of Education (Psychology)
I am a graduate of the University of New south Wales and have played clarinet for 14 years. I have a double degree in Music Education (BMus/BEd) and a Master of Education (Psychology) focused on Motivation and interest in music education from UNSW. Currently I am on the path to a PhD in Music Education.
I am currently the clarinet and saxophone teacher at Concord West Public School as well as the clarinet teacher at Mortlake Public School. I also teach clarinet, saxophone, aural and music theory privately at my home in Concord. I have previously taught at both Annandale North Primary School and Homebush Boys High School. I teach students for exams, primarily from the ABRSM (Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music) although I have also taught Trinity Guildhall and AMEB if required.
When teaching I have a particular focus on student Motivation and interest due to my background in Educational Psychology (MEd – Pyschology) and adapt my teaching to suit the individual. My pedagogical method primarily surrounds technique and practice due to my background and training as a K-12 classroom specialist music educator. My current fees for all tuition are $35 per half hour or $70 for 1 hr. I am happy to teach students of all ages, backgrounds and abilities.
