Ailsa has been playing, performing and enjoying the violin for most of her life. She completed her AMusA with Distinction in 2006 and in 2007 received honours grades for both HSC Music 2 and Music Extension (majoring in performance). She received scholarships to study at Newcastle Conservatorium from a young age where she studied under the guidance of Elizabeth Holwell, Peta Dries and David Banney.
In 2007, she received 1st place in the Macquarie Eisteddfod Open Division. She is a seasoned orchestral and chamber music performer having played with the Animato String Trio, SBS Youth Orchestra, Sydney Youth Orchestra and Hunter Valley Camerata Orchestra, as well as regular string quartet work for functions, weddings and special events.
