Alejandro A. Téllez-Vargas is a Mexican concert pianist, musicologist and an advocate of inclusion in music education. He completed his undergraduate studies at the Escuela Superior Música (Mexico) with Raúl Herrera Marquéz, a recognised specialist on Nineteenth-century Mexican piano music.

He has taken master-classes with Geoffrey Tozer, Leslie Howard, Peter Donohoe, Sergei Edelmann, Peter Jablonski, Santiago Rodríguez, Naoya Seino, Vladimir Odinokikh, Stephen Hough and Gregory Allen.

In 2008, he was awarded with the prestigious Fulbright Fellowship for International Postgraduate Studies at the United States of America. He earned a Master’s Degree in Music Performance in Gustavo Romero’s studio at the University of North Texas (UNT).

Throughout his graduate studies, he obtained a diploma in Music & Medicine at the Texas Center for Performing Arts Health.

Currently, he is a PhD Candidate at the University of Melbourne, enrolled in the Faculty of the Victorian College of Arts (VCA) and the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music (MCM), and an Endeavour Postgraduate Award Holder (Australian Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations, 2012). His PhD thesis explores the participation of people with disabilities in classical music.
