Bachelor of Music (Jazz Performance - Saxophone) First Class Honours, Clarinet AMEB 8th Grade
Alex completed a Bachelor of Music Performance Jazz speciality degree on saxophone in 2014 at the Elder Conservatorium of Music and graduated as the top student in his class. He is currently completing his honours year and also holds an AMEB Grade 8 Diploma for Clarinet. He has over 5 years private instrumental teaching experience, both in home and at various schools (primary and secondary).
Alex has studied overseas with internationally acclaimed saxophonists Ben Wendel (NYC), Walter Smith III (LA), Will Vinson (NYC) and David Binney (NYC) as well as Adelaide’s best and is always striving to improve his own practice.
Performance experience includes: – Adelaide Art Orchestra – The Mike Stewart Big Band – Mark Ferguson’s ‘Orquesta Mermelada’ – Ross McHenry Group – Baker Boys Band – Crump Cake Orchestra – the 2012 Adelaide Festival production of “Instructions for an Imaginary Man” – numerous local theatre productions – reggae / roots band Babylon Burning – local funk outfit Strut Machine – Adelaide University Big Band I – member of the Stari Most Orchestra – Jazz SA Superband – as well as numerous corporate and function performances with bands and alongside DJs.
Alex teaches students of all ages and tailors each lesson to get you where you would like to be heading in music. Alex is an AMEB registered teacher in possession of a current valid police check.
