Associate Diploma Of Jazz Studies, Masters In Music
I am a Professional Musician/Music Teacher and have been involved in the music industry
for 26 years graduating in 1994 from the NSW Conservatorium of Music in Sydney with an
Associate Diploma of Jazz Studies and now working on a Masters Of Arts in Music.
I have had the privilege to study arranging with Graeme Lyall, composition and harmony
with Roger Frampton and Piano and Counterpoint with Judy Bailey.I have also studied with
Verve Recording Artist; Joe Henderson, Wes Anderson (Lincoln Centre Orchestra) and Barry
Harris (New York Piano Player/Educator).
I have taught at Pre Schools, Primary/High Schools and Tertiary Institutions such as the
Central Coast Conservatorium of Music, Northern Rivers Conservatorium of Music, S.A.E
Byron Bay (History of Western Music Unit) and I’ve also taught workshops at various camps
and music festivals such as the University Of New England, Armidale Jazz Music Camp and
Bellingen Global Festival.
Regularly I run courses on Music theory, harmony, composition and appreciation at
Adult Community Colleges at Alstonville, Tweed Heads and Gold Coast Community Colleges
and I have performed in New York, Portugal, Europe and been involved or lead many
various music projects over the years including: “MARILANE & SOUNDWAVES FROM
BRAZIL”, Latin Group, “Vivalucion” (with music written for the ABC Television Series “East
of Everything”) and South African Township Jive Group, “Jive Kayana”. I have also worked
with or co lead groups with: George Golla, Judy Bailey, Craig Scott, Mark Isaacs, Paul
Mac Namara and Sharny Russell and I’ve recently completed a duo recording of original
esteemed colleague, Matt McMahon (piano).
