Alun Davies is an Adelaide-based musician and teacher, specialising in Bass Guitar, Ukulele, and a variety of folk instruments.
Originally from the UK, Alun has been trained by session musician and soul artist Stevie Williams, and performed at some of the UK’s top venues. He’s featured on several albums of varying musical styles, and was voted ‘Sunset Island Music’s ‘Bassist of the Year’ in 2014.
At the age of 20, Alun signed up with folk music retailers ‘Hobgoblin Music’, where he acted as a Bass, Brass and Woodwind specialist. It was here that he would develop his skills as a Ukulele player, and take up a whole cast of folk instruments.
The skills he learned here would culminate in the creation of progressive band ‘The Monster Bash’, whose innovative use of instruments such as cajon, ukulele and xiao quickly gained them local attention. They began to enter local music competitions, and funded their first album with the winnings.
In addition to this, Alun performs with alternative rock band ‘Young Amphibians’. They are signed to London’s ‘Animal Farm’ record label, and enjoy regular radio play and live performances across the country.
Now, living in Adelaide, Alun is keen to share his skills with a whole bunch of new musicians!
