Alyson Rae Patmore B.A. is a Jazz musician, vocalist and composer, originally from Hobart, Tasmania, Australia.
After graduating with a diploma degree from the Tasmanian Conservatory of Music in Hobart, Tasmania, Australia, in 2004, and receiving the 2004/5 young Australian award/scholarship for young musicians, Alyson traveled to Europe to further her music studies and education. She has now just completed Bachelor degree studies at the University of Performing Art and Music in the city of Graz, Austria, studying under the internationally acclaimed Jazz singer/pianist Dena Derose.
Alyson has experienced a wide range of performance and recording in jazz music, she has sung with Big Bands, large and small ensembles, and a variety of duos, trios and quartets. Her most recent bands included a Hobart based jazz octet, concentrating on well known composers from Duke Ellington to Gil Evans and an international quintet, which concentrate on original arrangements of standard tunes, as well as compositions that break the contemporary “standard jazz” style, depicting the story through imagery and stage presence. Alyson enjoys a personal and touching relationship with the audience throughout her entire performance, also while working in smaller ensembles such as trio or duo, the emphasis is always on the story, through the lyrics, and the audience’s interpretation of the music.
Throughout her jazz music career Alyson has been fortunate enough to work with very large and successful musicians, including Australian musicians, Dan Barnett (Trombone player and band leader, NSW), Fred Bradshaw Trio (Tasmania), Southern Tasmanian Gospel Choir. Bass Trombone player and international arranger, Ed Partyka, Classical opera singer and member of the Graz Opera ensemble since 1977 Fran Lubahn, and many guests which have visited during her studies, including Bob Brookmeyer, Dave Taylor and jazz pianist, big-band composer and leader Toshiko Akiyoshi.
