Bachelor of Music in Performance
Andrew is a graduate from the Queensland Conservatorium, studying Cello performance with Markus Stocker. While there, Andrew was Principal Cellist of the Opera, Concerto, Chamber and Symphony orchestras. He was also the recipient of many prizes including the Basil Jones Sonata prize and the Australian Concerto Competition (Chamber Division) with the Alembic Quartet.
Since graduating, Andrew performs with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra and has been Principal Cellist with various musical productions at QPAC, including the hits Annie and Mary Poppins. Besides orchestral playing, Andrew plays regularly with many chamber groups and as a solo recitalist.
In addition to cello performance, Andrew has taught at many schools across Brisbane, and has been a guest lecturer for various collective string programs. Andrew is experienced at teaching at all ages and all skill levels. He has also conducted several concerts, noticeably a Showstoppers concert with Ignatians Musical Theatre Society involving many soloists, a 60 person choir and a 40 piece orchestra.
