BA Contemporary Music UNE, Top 5 Oustanding Woodwind Teacher AMEB NSW 2015
In 2015 I was awarded a distinction for being one of the top 5 outstanding Woodwind teachers in NSW.
Since graduating in 1993 from the University of New England I have been a successful instrumental sax, clarinet and flute teacher and band conductor while also building an extensive performance career.
I have successfully taught students from 1st grade to AMUS in the AMEB system, have enjoyed success with students in the ABRSM Jazz course, which involves a substantial amount of improvisation, as well as tutoring HSC students in Music 1 and 2. I have also taught and examined Certificate of Music courses at Tertiary level. I have taught woodwind at Newington College for the last 12 years.
Most importantly I make learning a fun, creative musical experience while ensuring high levels of musicianship at all times. With a thorough knowledge of both the AMEB classical syllabus and the ABRSM jazz syllabus and extensive practical experience as a contemporary performer my students are ensured of getting an excellent musical education.
I currently perform in Jazz,Swing,Rock,Funk and African Bands.
