Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance
Angela discovered the joy of teaching while mentoring younger students in her roles as Music Vice-Captain and Captain at Mueller College Secondary School. She now shares her passion, as an orchestral strings and musicianship teacher, with the students at her growing private studio in North Lakes, where she especially enjoys teaching adult beginners. She also offers her teaching abilities to programs such as the Gladstone Youth Music Council on a regular basis.
Angela enjoyed developing her orchestral and chamber music performance skills as part of her Bachelor of Music at the prestigious Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University, from which she recently graduated. Her principal teacher there was Queensland Symphony Orchestra violinist, Dr Nicole Hammill. One of Angela’s achievements during her time there was being named Principal Second Violinist of the Queensland Philharmonia Orchestra, which was, at the time, based at the Conservatorium. Angela continues to develop her skills with regular attendance at specialist workshops, such as the Melbourne Youth Music Summer School and Cairns Winter Music School.
As an orchestral performer, Angela has developed her orchestral skills under the guidance of celebrated conductors such as John Curro (Queensland Youth Symphony), Warwick Potter (University of Queensland Symphony Orchestra) and Johannes Fritzsch (Queensland Conservatorium Symphony Orchestra). Through these and various community orchestras, Angela has participated in numerous concerts, music camps, and tours over the past ten years. This has included performances in the world-renowned Sydney Opera House and Brisbane’s foremost classical music venue, the Queensland Performing Arts Centre.
In the future Angela aims to develop performance opportunities for adult beginner music students, travel overseas in orchestral contexts and explore contemporary music genres in a chamber ensemble setting.
