Be moved by the soprano who has performed internationally in Chicago with The Chicago Philharmonia Orchestra in 2002, as well as the Opera Queensland Chorus. Anita completed The Master of Music (Performance) at the Queensland Conservatorium, Griffith University, and has studied under Professor Janet Delpratt and Joseph Ward, OBE. In 1998, she was a recipient of an Arts Queensland Individual Professional Development Programme Bursary, with the Queensland Government as her official sponsor for an Opera Mastercourse, led by Victor Morris, distinguished repetiteur, conductor and former Head of Auditions at the English National Opera.
Anita has completed Opera Studies in England with Joseph Ward, OBE and Victor Morris, on the 1998/199 Queen’s Trust Award. She has partaken in the 1999 Australian National Academy Mastercourses for which she was a recipient of a prestigious scholarship. These masterclasses were conducted by renowned Australian soprano Marilyn Richardson. In both 1999 and 2000, Anita was also invited by the Australian National Academy of Music to perform in Song/Opera Masterclasses with highly-acclaimed mezzo-soprano Sarah Walker.
Anita’s wins include the Open Vocal Competition in the 1998 Murwillumbah Eisteddfod, as well as runner-up in the Alton Budd Memorial Vocal Competition. Her wins in 2000 include the Vocal section at The North Queensland Concerto and Vocal Competition in Townsville. She was also a finalist in The Dame Joan Sutherland Vocal Award in 2001, winner of the Queensland Vocal Competition Senior Aria Section in 2003, and Champion Dramatic Soprano at the 2003 Queensland Eisteddfod.
Her extensive performance experience includes appearances in the title roles of Bellini’s Norma and Janacek’s Jenufa, as Violetta (La Traviata), Santuzza (Cavalleria Rusticana), Casilda (The Gondoliers), Miss Jessel (Turn of the Screw), Second Lady (The Magic Flute), Annina (La Traviata) and Yum Yum (The Mikado). Anita also has a flair for character roles and has played The Beggar Woman (Sweeney Todd) and The Sorceress (Dido and Aenaeus).
Solo concert highlights include guest soloist with The Queensland Pops Orchestra, where she made her professional debut as a soloist with orchestra.
Anita has also participated in many guest performances as Soprano soloist with St. Lucia Orchestra, Soprano soloist in Mozart’s Coronation Mass, Soprano soloist in the Mozart Requiem, Soprano soloist in the Mozart “Great Mass” in C Minor, the Bach Magnificat and Vivaldi’s Gloria, and an engagement as Soprano Soloist with the Cleveland Symphony Orchestra.
