Ashlee Clapp graduated from UWA with the ‘Dorothy Ellen Ransom Prize of Musical Composition’ and is currently completing her Master of Fine Arts, Composition at VCA (UniMelb) made possible by the Australian Postgraduate Award. Ashlee has been involved with the University Dramatic Society at UWA since 2007, as a music theatre performer, Musical Director, Orchestral Manager, Conductor, Production Manager and 2010 Resident Composer. Ashlee’s original musical ‘The Devil Downtown’ placed third for best musical in WA at the 2010 ITA Finley awards. In 2011, Ashlee was Co-Musical Director and Conductor for Marloo Theatre’s production of ‘Gypsy’ and in that same year she earned a placement in the West Australian Symphony Orchestra (WASO) young composers program. In 2012 Ashlee was co-composer and Co-Musical Director for Union House Theatre’s production of ‘1938: An Opera’ and she was delighted to be invited back to compose for ‘Third Person’ and also co-compose for Matt Scholten’s production of ‘The Tempest,’ both in 2013.
