Bachelor of Music
Born in Hobart in 1991, Benjamin studied with Jabra Latham at the University of Tasmania Conservatorium of Music, graduating in 2012, with intermittent study at the University of Sydney with Dr. Michael Duke.
During his studies, Benjamin won a succession of awards and scholarships, including the UTAS Orchestral Winds Scholarship, Sir Frank Packer Scholarship, DJ Motors Scholarship, UTAS Prelude Scholarship for Gifted Students, J.D. Foley Award and the Phonographic Performers Company of Australia [PPCA] Trust Award.
Benjamin has appeared with Sydney’s Modern Music Ensemble, the Island Saxophone Quartet, Kennedy Trio and as director saxophone quartet: 22SQ.
As a soloist, Benjamin has appeared with the Tasmanian Discovery Orchestra, Tasmanian Youth Orchestra and Hobart Wind Symphony as well as featuring within the Australian International Symphony Orchestra Institute and Derwent Symphony Orchestra.
A trip to Europe in 2012 saw Benjamin perform in Scotland for the World Saxophone Congress, in addition to receiving tuition from master saxophonists in the Netherlands.
