M.Mus, B.Mus (Hons), A.Mus.A., L.T.C.L., German qualification (Kuenstlerische Ausbildung)
Bettina is active as a professional performer (regular performances with the Orchestra Victoria as well as Queensland, Christchurch, Tasmanian, Adelaide, West Australian and Singapore Symphony Orchestras) and dedicated teacher.
Bettina is a specialist music teacher at Melbourne Grammar School, Loreto Mandeville Hall and Ivanhoe Girls Grammar and has previously taught at Blackburn High School (Melbourne) and St. Margarets Anglican Girls School and Churchie in Brisbane.
Bettina studied in Germany with world-renowned oboists Heinz Holliger and Hans Elhorst with the assistance of a German Government scholarship. On returning to Australia she completed a Master of Music in performance. Prior to this she completed a B.Mus (with honours and university medal).
She has been teaching piano and oboe for 20 years and has successfully prepared students for exams at all levels, including university entrance examinations. Her students’ average AMEB exam result over this time has been “A – Honours”.
Bettina has been an active organiser and tutor of the Australasian Double Reed Society’s Queensland and Victorian Divisions since 2006. The organisation regularly hosts exciting events for double reed students.
Bettina’s teaching focusses on building a strong technical foundation in order to allow interesting musical playing by the student. Her students frequently play with piano accompaniment during lessons. Of course a lot of fun is had on the way!
Bettina has performed with professional orchestras and new music ensembles throughout Europe, Asia and Australia.
