B. Mus (Ed) specialising in piano
I graduated from the University of Stellenbosch (South Africa) in 1988, gaining a B.Mus (Ed) specialising in piano teaching. After teaching music full-time at a couple of high schools in South Africa and Namibia, my husband and I moved to Germany. Between raising 3 children, I continued teaching piano privately, conducting an adult a Capella choir, and playing piano in a chamber group.
Since moving to Australia, I have extended my teaching privately at home and at various schools.
For the past 12 years I have entered candidates of all grades for AMEB exams (piano, flute, theory and musicianship) with very pleasing results. Although exams are an excellent way to motivate students and ensure they progress at a steady pace, students may want to enjoy playing the piano without the pressure of exams. I firmly believe however, that fun and enjoyment are the result of disciplined and regular practice!! My passion lies in teaching, and my greatest reward is instilling a love of music in my students – excelling at the instrument is a bonus.
I also organise an annual themed concert – this gives every student the opportunity of performing for family and friends.
A recent addition to our house has provided me with a spacious, award winning studio with beautiful bush outlook and waiting room.
