BMus (Hons.), PGDip
I am an enthusiastic, encouraging and well qualified teacher and would be delighted to help you to develop your violin playing skills. I teach everyone, from beginner to advanced, and every age. I can help you to pass exams (AMEB, ABRSM or Trinity), or help you to learn for your own enjoyment. The way I teach depends on what you want to achieve from your lessons.
I studied Performance Violin at the Royal Northern College in Manchester (BMus.(Hons.), and continued my studies at the Royal College of Music in London (PGDip.). My teacher there was Yossi Zivoni. I then developed a busy teaching and playing career in the UK and Ireland. I played in many professional orchestras, including Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, Ulster Orchestra, Birmingham Opera Company, and spent a year playing in Southbank Sinfonia. I also played with a number of chamber groups, including the Shallid Piano Trio, the Southdene Quarte, the Alpha Quartet and the Dublin String Quartet. I taught in both public and private schools, as well as privately from my home, and in music schools. This included working for Croydon Music and Arts, Bacup and Rawtenstall Grammar School, and Walton’s School of Music in Dublin. I moved to Sydney with my husband in September 2012.
I love playing the violin, and hope that you will too. Whatever your level or personal goals, I will do my best to help you develop as a violinist and musician.
