Cho Ki (Jacky) Wong is currently a student in Master degree at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, studying orchestral conducting under Professor Imre Pallo. Wong was appointed as the principal conductor of the Hong Kong Grandmaster Youth Philharmonic Orchestra and the Kwai Tsing Youth Orchestra from 2007 – 2009. Wong participated in the Conductors Retreat at Medomak and studied with Kenneth Keisler. In Sydney, Wong has conducted the Conservatorium Symphony Orchestra, Woollahra Philharmonic Orchestra, the Beecroft Orchestra and Eastern Sydney Chamber Orchestra and Choir. He served as assistant conductor to Maestro Pallo in the production of Mozart’s La Finta Giardiniera.
As an active pianist, Wong graduated from Master of piano performance at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, studied with Mr. Gerard Willems. He is the winner of the HK (Asia) Piano Open Competition in 2002, the ASKM Gold Coast Open Piano Competition in 2010 and City of Wollongong Eisteddfod Open Piano Scholarship in 2011. He appears regularly as soloist with numerous orchestras such as the Youth Musician Philharmonic Orchestra (HK), the Baptist University Symphony Orchestra (HK), Woollahra Philharmonic Orchestra (Sydney), the Beecroft Orchestra (Sydney) and the Eastern Sydney Chamber Orchestra.
Most recently, Wong has conducted the complete Beethoven piano concertos from keyboard at the Conservatorium. He was invited to accompany renounced flautist Jane Rutter in “An Australian in Paris” national tour.
