Christian Laki has studied several styles of guitar, bass guitar, double bass, piano, songwriting, lyric writing, composition, arranging, singing and music technology with renowned Australian musicians and composers such as Ricardo Andino, Ron Philpot, Craig Scott, Alistair Spence, Sandy Evans, Gordon Kerry, and Anna Pimakhova at respected institutions such as The Sydney School of Spanish Guitar, The Australian Institute of Music, Sydney Conservatorium of Music, and University of New South Wales. 

Christian has performed at prestigious venues such as The Soup Plus, Harbourside Brasserie, Real Ale Café, UNSW Roundhouse, Clancy Auditorium UNSW, Footbridge Theatre, Bar Broadway, and The Hopetoun Hotel. 
He has performed with musicians such as Richard Maegraith (Java Quartet), Alistair Spence (Wanderlust), and Alon Ilsar (Gauche).

As a songwriter he has had much music played on radio and television, including music written for the last two series of Pizza shown on SBS television and released on DVD.

Until recently he fronted his own band The Chagalls who regularly performed shows around Sydney and their debut single “Lost in Touch” received airplay on both Triple J and SBS television as it was included in the comedy series Swift and Shift Couriers.

He now writes songs and music for film and television, the latest being incidental piano music for the trailer for ‘Lou’ starring John Hurt.

He has been composing, performing, and teaching for more than 25 years.

He offers individually tailored music tuition, specialising in bass, guitar, and songwriting. He also offers tuition in voice, keyboard, composition, arranging, and music technology.

Christian prides himself on being a dedicated and patient teacher offering the highest quality tuition that he can. He aims to be friendly and encouraging whilst also striving for excellence and bringing out the best in each student. He has learnt during his years of teaching the importance of listening to his students needs and to nurture them in their musical development, and not force them in a direction that isn’t right for them.
