Learn for fun or sit for AMEB or St. Cecilia exams.
Lessons are fun and Christina and Karen are kind, encouraging and patient.
Theory is taught using games and manipulatives to make learning fun and more memorable. Ranging from 5 year olds using small animal toys or cars to find notes on the piano, to advanced students using Lego to learn rhythm.
We teach students to read music both the traditional way, and using iPad apps. Students love trying to beat their previous levels and/or scores – especially the adults!
Our students bounce in the door to come to their lessons, and are excited to practice at home using their ipad.
Students can also perform in concerts and competitions if they like.
Fully qualified teacher (Bachelor of Music) with blue card and 26 years teaching experience.
Past students have gained or are currently completing their Bachelor of Music at various universities, while others are performing in Australia and overseas.
Most importantly, past students are still playing the piano many years after finishing lessons, and use piano as a great way to relax and unwind after work.
Karen Fukushima will be joining us as the teacher for the Redland Bay studio. Karen is currently preparing for her grade 8 piano exam and is a talented pianist and composer.
Karen has received Higher Distinctions for all of her piano and theory exams to date and has been selected to perform in the prestigious Yamaha Keyboard Festival State Gala for 2 years running. Karen also won the Supersonics composition competition for 2016 and is now a published composer.
Christina is currently training Karen as a teacher and lessons will be available in Redland Bay soon.
