I left the Sydney Symphony Orchestra in 2002 after 32 years and have taught continuously since 1970. I also still play in various Sydney orchestras and examine strings for the AMEB.
I teach Orchestral Double Bass privately in my own home, at schools when numbers are worthwhile, and occasionally at students’ own homes.I take pride in being a very good first teacher for people of all ages. In my opinion this is a most important and satisfying role. The strong technical and musical foundations laid down flow over into every genre of music that uses the upright bass, and on to bass guitar as well.
I am experienced in preparing students for the NSW HSC, for AMEB examinations and for Tertiary study. Many of my students have been adults and I strongly suggest they join amateur orchestras when ready.
