I absolutely love to pass on my enthusiasm and love of music to students of all ages and levels. Simply put, I aim to create positive music experiences for each individual student. In my experience it is vital to cover many skills early in a student’s development- note learning, learning by ear, rhythm, memory, sight reading, composition, theory, and performance are just a few. However I feel the big one that gets missed so often is teaching students HOW to practice and HOW to start solving their own playing problems!!
I have biennial concerts at the beautiful Richmond Uniting Church with additional concerts for more advanced children and students who have composed their own pieces.
I also teach at Melbourne Girl’s Grammar.
Many of my own students sit for AMEB exams and, though I encourage it, I don’t insist on it — there are so many other goals and projects to achieve as well!
Added to all of this I am a professional pianist, playing regularly with MSO, and at Melb Uni, ANAM, and VCA. I am also a very regular accompanist at AMEB and love helping music students of all levels through their exams.
