A.Mus.A, B. Arts, B.Mus (Hons)
I am a graduate of the University of Melbourne, where I completed a Bachelor of Music (Honours) in the study of violin, and with a research thesis in the study of music performance psychology in adolescent music students. Whilst completing my training in Melbourne I studied with Mary Johnston, Alice Waten, Mark Mogheilevski and Helen Ayres. I achieved my A.Mus.A in 2005 and I participated in Australian Youth Orchestra programs, the Melbourne Youth Orchestra, the Chamber Strings of Melbourne, the Royal Melbourne Philharmonic, the Melbourne University Symphony and Chamber Orchestras, the Melbourne Collegium and the Australian National Academy “Young Academy” Program. I also worked with two ensembles, the Woodland Duo and Ensemble Nouveau, which specialised in providing music for weddings and corporate events across greater Victoria.
Since moving to Cairns in 2013 I play regularly with the Cairns Concert Orchestra, North Queensland Chamber Orchestra, Cairns Choral Society, Palmerston Ensembles and the Cairns Winter Music School.
I over 12 years teaching experience. I am currently the strings teacher at St Monica’s and St Augustine’s College in Cairns, as well the Candlenut Steiner School in Kuranda. Students at my home studio, the Lotus Music Studio, are involved with the Cairns Junior Strings Orchestra, and are busy throughout the year preparing for AMEB exams, the Cairns Junior Eisteddfod, and various other informal performance opportunities.
I enjoy teaching because I love sharing the enjoyment of playing music with others, and because it is challenging and rewarding. My lessons are student focused, and I tailor my teaching method to the needs and enjoyment of the student.
