Undergraduate in BMusEd in her final year
My name is Izzie and I am in my final year of music education at the University of W.A. I have four students at this time and I am looking to expand my student base. I have sung all my life, performing with various vocal ensembles and gaining entry to U.W.A. to study music where I have continued to participate in many ensembles, as well as take on private students.
My philosophy as a teacher is that every person deserves to experience music at a high level and enjoy it as they see fit. In singing, I believe it is never too young (or too old!) to start and to be gently guided, never pushing the voice, but allowing it to develop naturally, while being nudged in the right direction. I think children, particularly teenagers, want to sing like their idols, and this is not always beneficial. In fact, it can be detrimental in the long term, with significant damaged caused if people aren’t taught how to support themselves properly. It is my ambition to help people achieve their highest potential as a singer and to show them how to best support themselves.
Singing is a wonderful activity. I have experienced, first hand, the joys it can bring health wise, socially, and mentally. Let me show you how beneficial it can be! If my teaching ideas appeal to you, please don’t hesitate in contacting me!
