After studying with Nelson Cooke and David Pereira for a Bachelor of Music degree at the Canberra School of Music, Jane completed a Graduate Diploma of Music and Master of Performance at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music with Susan Blake.
Jane has taught cello and musicianship for 20 years and teaches students of all ages and levels preparing them for AMEB exams and the HSC if desired. She has taught at many schools throughout Sydney and at Sydney Conservatorium and regional Conservatoriums (Tamworth and Newcastle) in the past as well as Sydney and Edgecliff Grammar schools, Scecgs Redlands, Moriah and Emmanuel Colleges and several public schools.
Balancing performance opportunities with teaching has led to a preference to teach predominantly in a private studio in Drummoyne and some of her students have received full music scholarships to Scecgs Redlands, PLC Croydon and Sydney Grammar School. As a performer Jane recently performed in the musicals Annie, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, An Officer and a Gentleman and The Addams Family Musical and has played in many other musicals in Sydney including West Side Story, Porgy and Bess and The Sound of Music. In1996 she toured Asia in a string quartet for the musical Les Miserables and as a freelance cellist has played with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, with many chamber groups, throughout Sydney, England and Italy and for film soundtracks, various bands and Musica Viva in Schools. She presently manages and performs with the Bacci String Quartet.
