Jason Catchpowle is a young and passionate Freelance Tuba Player/teacher based in South Melbourne, Victoria.
He has Performed professionally with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, West Australian Symphony Orchestra and Astra chamber music society. He is also on the casual list for the Queensland Symphony Orchestra.
Jason is an alumni of the Australian National Academy of music (ANAM) where he studied primarily with Tim Buzbee (Principal Tuba, MSO); secondarily with Jessica Buzbee and Steve Rosse (Principal Tuba, SSO). Prior to ANAM Jason undertook two years of study at the West Australian Academy of Performing Arts and studied with Cameron Brook (Principal Tuba, WASO).
Jason is also an accomplished piano player and improviser. He is currently composing new works for various instruments including the Tuba. He wishes to perform and record these exiting new works in the future.
Jason is looking for students of any age wishing to improve their musicianship, technique or ensemble skills on the Tuba. Jason plays F and CC tubas primarily but will teach players using any instrument (F, Eb, CC, BBb).
Prices for one on one study: $60 per hour. $40 for 30 mins.
Jason is willing to travel to a students residence at a negotiated additional cost depending on distance.
