Michael Walder is a bass teacher specialising in jazz performance and improvisation. He has degrees in Jazz Performance from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and in Philosophy from Macquarie University.
He is an experienced and successful teacher whose love of teaching and strong educational philosophy are reflected in both his results and a strong following of students. Michael has developed an educational approach to teaching jazz that encourages musicality in improvisation rather than just the theoretical application of scales and arpeggios. Michael has taught bass in high schools and music schools throughout Sydney and is Stage Band conductor at Sydney Boys’ High School.
Michael is also an in-demand and versatile performer and recording artist.
