Study Jazz guitar with one of our highly qualified faculty, led by JWA Principal Saul Richardson. Guitar lessons are available with Yutaro Okuda or Saul Richardson.
Yutaro Okuda is a versatile and talented teacher and performer. He is a graduate of South Australia’s Elder Conservatorium of Music and has just completed his final year of additional study for a Bachelor of Music at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. This raises the improtant question of why we in Australia say “conservatorium” when the rest of the world says “conservatory”? That aside, Yutaro is happy to teach a wide range of styles and approaches, though his specialty is jazz. He is an experienced teacher comfortable with students of all ages and levels.
Mr Okuda is guitarist for Judy Bailey’s Jazz Connection, has recorded and toured with rock group Sound of Seasons, and has even worked with Ska band The My Tys. Yutaro is available for lessons on Saturdays.
Saul Richardson is one of Australia’s most internationally respected jazz educators. He has an outstanding record of helping motivated players achieve excellence in HSC and school music.
Preparing students for school and HSC music assessment is a speciality.
Students of all ages and levels are welcome. At JWA we can cater to just about anyone’s needs. We do prefer to give lessons to students over the long term, rather than a few “one offs”. Some of our faculty will only teach jazz guitar, so be sure to let us know what you need so we can match you with the best teacher for you.
We are probably not the best teachers for those who just want to strum a few chords, but can gladly suggest other teachers if that is what you are looking for.
