AMusA, BMus, Masters of Music Therapy
Jess began playing the violin when she was 6 years old. She was a member of Bay City Strings Geelong from 2001 to 2005. She attended Geelong Summer Music Camp for four years (and returned as a tutor in 2010 and 2014) and the Australian Youth Orchestra’s National Music Camp in 2007, 2009 and 2010. She received a music scholarship to Christian College Geelong (2005-2008) where she studied violin with Ben Castle and Bobby Macindoe. In 2007 she received her Associate Diploma of Music (AMusA). She has played in numerous community and semi-professional orchestras and chamber ensembles, as well as in music theatre productions. From 2008 to the present she has been a member and manager of the Umbrella String Trio. In 2010 she studied with Simon Standage in London. In 2011-12 Jess studied with Jun Yi Ma at the Hobart Conservatorium and in 2013 she specialised in Baroque violin with Julia Fredersdorff. In 2013 Jess also performed in the Hobart Baroque Festival with the Royal Covent Garden opera company and Pinchgut ensemble. Jess has Bachelor of Music (University of Tasmania), majoring in violin performance and music history, and a Masters of Music Therapy (University of Melbourne).
