Graduate Diploma of Education (Middle Years) La Trobe University, Master of Music (Performance Teaching) The University of Melbourne, Bachelor of Music (Honours) The University of Melbourne, Bachelor of Music (Performance-classical voice) Monash University, Bachelor of Arts (Sociology) Macquarie University
I offer singing and music theory lessons at my home studio in Mount Martha. I can also travel to you for an extra $10 per lesson. I have been studying voice for over fifteen years and have experience in classical, contemporary and music theatre styles. I offer preparation for music exams, VCE, auditions, technique, and can assist you in reaching your musical goals.
As a teacher I believe everyone should have the chance to learn music in an engaging way. I encourage students to be involved in repertoire choice and in setting their musical goals to ensure they are engaged and working towards meaningful goals. In my teaching I use Kodaly methods to develop aural abilities including sight reading. At my studio I advocate a growth mindset, constantly encouraging students to learn new things and attempt difficult tasks to achieve their musical goals. I believe the process of learning is important; musicians must learn good technique and have a high level of musicianship in addition to learning how to sing songs well.
