Jo Davie is a versatile vocalist, songwriter and teacher. She is in her third year as a Bachelor of Music candidate majoring in Jazz voice, being guided by the world-renowned Irene Bartlett. Within the jazz world, she has performed in various ensembles, currently gigging in both a voice and guitar duo, as well as the Jo Davie quartet. She also showcased as part of the Brisbane Jazz Vocal Festival “Stars of the Future” event at the Brisbane Jazz Club this year. Through her networks at the Queensland Conservatorium, Jo became the vocalist of Cigany Weaver, the 6-piece gypsy outfit who specialize in Jazz manouche repertoire. Alongside her performance projects, Jo is involved in community and education work, singing weekly in an auditioned community choir which performs regularly with the QSO and teaches at a music school along with expanding her private teaching business. In the future she will be undertaking an Honours in performance at the Conservatorium and then hopes to gain a Masters degree overseas.
