Bachelor of Music, Melbourne Conservatorium of Music (University of Melbourne).
A classically trained musician, I perform in a wide variety of musical contexts, from classical recitals to blues bands to musicals in the theatre.
Music has always been my passion, and I can’t imagine life without it. I taught myself to read music and play guitar as a child, and when I got to high-school and started playing reed instruments, I knew I wanted to be a musician, and I haven’t looked back ever since!
I’m passionate about teaching music and I aim to give my students a solid musical foundation including listening, theory and aural skills, so that they are well prepared to launch into any musical genre with a running start.
I believe in allowing my students to take ownership of their own learning, and I encourage my students to choose some of their own repertoire, write their own music and have a go at a wide variety of musical genres.
I have a Bachelor of Music (majoring in Saxophone) from the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music (University of Melbourne), and am currently completing a Masters of Performance Teaching, which is a degree specifically for this kind of instrumental teaching.
I have three years of experience teaching in primary schools. I have also written my own Guitar Method Book, which I like to use with children where appropriate.
