Senior first aid
My name is Jolie, and I am an experienced sax teacher for beginner-intermediate, ages 10 and up. I’m looking for a new student to fill up my vacant Sunday arvo spot.
My training is primarily in the jazz world, with smatterings of experience in classical, concert band, and pop. I am heavily involved in the Adelaide University Medical Orchestra (AUMO), whose big band I have directed for 4 years, as well as the elite JazzSA Superband/jazz camp programs.
I’ve been teaching instrumental lessons since 2011. My teaching style is very positive and engaging. I don’t want lessons to be boring (especially for youngsters and beginners), so we will cover a range of things throughout the lesson. This works well to keep my students engaged, and also gives them a very thorough musical understanding. I recommend students play pieces from a number of different genres (including classical, jazz, pop, musicals, etc) to see what feels best for them, and also to generally have a diverse education!
Lessons are $45/60 mins, or $40/45 mins. I might consider a half hour lesson if the travel time is reasonable ($30/30 mins)
Extra bits and bobs:
- I can play piano to an accompanying level, which is super useful for exams and lessons – First aid (+ more!) accredited – Police clearance to work with children (all 3 certificates)
I never mind having a chat about music, so feel free to give me a call/email with any questions
