B.Mus Perf. (Honours) 2007, Diploma Secondary Teaching 2010
Jon is an enthusiastic music educator, and has enjoyed teaching regularly at home in Melbourne, and abroad, conducting masterclasses and workshops in New Zealand and New York.
Jon has enjoyed success in his performance career, which has seen him play throughout the Australasia area (Aus, NZ, Japan). In addition to his performing success, Jon has obtained several federal art grants to fund his artistic endeavors.
As a student himself, Jon graduated with first class honours from the Victorian College of the Arts in the classical saxophone stream, before making the switch to jazz. He has received lessons throughout Australia and America from Julien Wilson, Joel Frahm, Miguel Zenon and Chris Potter.
Jon enjoys teaching students of any ability and age, and has had great success with his students since starting teaching 7 years ago. He has my own teaching studio at home with a great variety of resources and equipment to facilitate great learning and create an encouraging, welcoming learning environment. Jon strives to make lessons fun, so no matter whether you’re a serious musician or a raw beginner looking to experiment in woodwind, please give him a call and he can arrange a trial lesson.
This page is up to date, so please don’t hesitate to call! I am currently taking students.
