Bachelor of Music Performance (Monash University), First Class Honours in Fine Arts (Improvisation) faculty of the VCA Melbourne University
Hi, I am Josh, a Melbourne based saxophonist and teacher. I graduated from Monash University (Bachelor of Music Performance) in 2013, and completed Honours in Music at Melbourne University faculty of the VCA graduating with first class honours in 2015. I am a versatile musician who performs in a wide variety of bands all over Australia. I am a passionate teacher who likes to tailor lessons to cater to the individual needs of each student, rather than teaching to the generic mould of a workbook or syllabus. I like to see my lessons as a collaboration in which I can offer a supportive space in which students can develop musicality and creative confidence.
I have a lot of experience teaching and in addition to private work, I teach at a number of Melbourne’s best schools – both primary and high school. I teach students as young as 5 years old right up to adults, from complete beginners to tertiary level advanced music students.
My teaching studio is located in Thornbury, right next to Thornbury station as well as High Street and St Georges Road Trams. Free parking is available out front.
I offer lessons in all saxophones, clarinet, piano, music theory, harmony, jazz, and ear training.
In my private practice, I am interested in working with passionate music lovers of all standards. My only requirement for offering lessons is that students continually aim to improve, and I provide a framework in which to do so.
