B.Mus (Jazz Studies - Saxophone)
Ken has completed a B.MusP (Jz), Music Performance Jazz specialty degree on Alto/Soprano saxophones at the Elder Conservatorium of Music and holds AMEB Grade 7 Diploma for Pianoforte, and Grade 5 AMEB Theory.
He has studied with such renowned performers as Jon Gordon, Chris Soole, Mike Stewart, Dustan Cox, Damien Hurn, Dr. Diana Weekes (Thelma Dent Memorial Scholarship), Gabriella Smart, Katrina Reynolds, Lillian Fung.
Performance experience (Past and Present) includes the G&S society productions ‘ The Mikado’ and ‘ A Funny thing Happened on the way to the Forum’, The Wholias, ‘Sabotage Presents the Jazz Hop Experiment’ for the 2011 Adelaide Fringe, MTA violin masterclass with acclaimed violinist Mark Mogilevsky, the internationally signed Indie rock sensation ‘The Colourphonics’, jazz fusion group FUSE, the Funk Collective People Say, The highly praised ‘Jazz Hop Project’ for the 2010 Adelaide Cabaret Fringe Festival, ‘An Awkward Seduction’ for the 2010 Adelaide Fringe, Elder Conservatorium Big Bands 1/2 & Latin Ensemble, The Bossa Nova Project, ICOSA Big Band, The Bulgarian Idol Experience, as a Guest Artist with Midnight Martini and the Alex Wignall Trio, Corner Pocket Big Band, Duck Salad Jazz and the Onkaparinga City Big Band.
His accompanying experience is varied, ranging from work accompanying Ms. Jennifer Newman’s (ASO) violin students for AMEB exams to working with the Onkaparinga City Council Choir as well as the occasional eisteddfod performance.
He has worked as the Saxophone/Clarinet instrumental specialist at Cabra Dominican College and St Thomas Primary School and has completed mandatory reporting and undergone appropriate police checks.
