Kiran is a freelance performer and teacher based in Melbourne. Kiran’s qualifications include three years in the Professional Peformance Program at the Australian National Academy of Music, and a Bachelor of Music with First Class Honours from the University of Melbourne. During this time Kiran learned from some of the world’s most outstanding flute players and teachers. Kiran has many years of experience teaching around the country, from adult and child beginners to tertiary-level tutoring.
Kiran is also an outstanding performer in his own right. Recent highlights include winning First Prize in the Australian International Flute Competition, being a finalist and winning the “Best Performance in an Australian Work” in the ABC Young Performer of the Year Awards, and performing solo concerti with Orchestra Victoria, as well as touring the country with his award-winning wind ensemble, the Arcadia Quintet.
Kiran draws on all of this experience in his teaching, combining knowledge of the building blocks of flute playing with a passion for exploring and communicating music. Kiran is committed to finding the best learning and playing method for each individual student – enhancing their technical skills while helping them achieve their own personal goals.
