Dip. Mus, B. Mus
I am a vocalist with 15 years experience in performance, private singing tuition and choir leadership. A love of language has influenced my repertoire. With a strong affinity for European and Eastern folk traditions, I sing in Portuguese, Spanish, and French and I am currently fulfilling a long-time dream of studying the South Indian Karnatic vocal tradition. I perform solo, and as a member of Appalachian (early American) trio Dear Cedar.
I am available for one-on-one singing, and guitar tuition, for primary school children to adults, in which I place emphasis on awareness and enjoyment of one’s own unique voice, strong aural skills, voice care and warm-ups, rhythm and picking techniques and tools for improvisation and song writing.
Individual lessons are tailored to suit students’ needs; whether they be pure enjoyment/ personal development; to build repertoire, prepare for an audition, sing confidently in languages other then English or to work on original material.
I also run capella choir groups with diverse intercultural repertoire, and opportunity for collaborative composition. In these groups, rhythm, language, harmony and improvisation are explored and built upon.
