Professional Music Teachers in Australia
B.Mus, Grade 8 ANZCA, Grade 5 AMEB Theory, Grade 5 AMEB Classical Singing, Dip. Ed
I have been teaching piano, music theory and singing for 5 years. I taught at the Northern Music School from 2004-2006 and have been teaching privately also. I completed my Bachelor of Music (Jazz/Popular Singing) in 2006 with High Distinctions in Performance and Composition, and completed a Diploma of Education (Music) at Monash University in 2007, receiving a Dean’s Award for outstanding academic results. I continue to study piano with Teresa Filmer, a co-ordinator of the ANZCA Music Syllabus. I am familiar with both ANZCA and AMEB examination procedures. I have studied Jazz vocal improvisation and am experienced in many other popular music styles.
I have performed in numerous function and wedding bands, solo gigs, university recitals and ensembles at Bennetts Lane Jazz Club, Melbourne. I performed in the 2004 Official Grand Prix Ball at the Crown Palladium and the 2004 Australian Open Launch at Rod Laver Arena.
In 2002 I successfully auditioned for the lead role in Glen Waverley Secondary College’s School Production of ‘Chicago’, and was subsequently nominated for both ‘Best Female Junior Performer’ and ‘Best New Talent’ by the Music Theatre Guild of Victoria, 2002. I received an award for ‘Academic Excellence in 2002 – Music’ from GWSC and was Music Captain in that same year. I also had a successful audition and solo performance in the Youth Concert ‘Voyage 2001’ at the Melbourne Concert Hall.
I currently sing in my own band. I have also recently been singing at weddings and social engagements.
