Lachlan Dent holds a PhD (Music Performance) from Monash University, focused on the application of several pedagogical approaches to cello performance. He also holds Master’s and Bachelor’s Degrees in Music Performance from the University of Melbourne, as well as Licentiate Diplomas from the AMEB (LMusA) and ABRSM (LRSM).
Lachlan has taught cello and guest lectured at Monash University (Melbourne), Universiti Tecknologi MARA (Malaysia), Festival Eleazar de Carvalho (Brazil), Janet Clarke Hall (The University of Melbourne), and several high schools and primary schools.
Lachlan has performed in New York, China, Australia, Malaysia and Brazil, and his playing has been broadcast on ABC Classic FM and 3MBS.
Lachlan recognises that every student is unique and has varying aspirations. He believes that the key to bringing out the best in each pupil is to establish the optimal approach to teaching that enables them to learn effectively and achieve their desired goals.
