General Details

Vocal Performance - Macquarie University

Lyrical singer/songwriter Larissa McKay’s style defies categorisation but slides within pop between blue-eyed soul, adult-contemporary, and electro-pop. She doesn’t like to be pigeon holed.

Nor is she afraid of musical adventures, backing herself in some tough environments. She has performed on three continents, created four EPs, won a Billboard Songwriting Award, made three professional music videos, has been a three-times finalist in Music Oz, and has been collaborating musically with various electronic dance producers and songwriters.

Along the way she has supported Boy & Bear, Georgia Fair, Sarah Blasko, Sivu, Gabrielle Caplin, Cloud Control, Bertie Blackman, Josh Flowers & the Wild, Mark Seymour (Hunters & Collectors), Renee Geyer and jammed with INXS. While based in London in 2010 – 2012 she sang at popular clubs including Ronnie Scott’s, The Barfly & The Garage. She has performed her songs on the bill of The Great Escape Festival (UK), Festival of the Sun (AUS), Manly International Jazz Festival (AUS) and Surry Hills Festival (AUS). Her music has been aired on the likes of Triple J, FBI Radio, and Joy FM and her videos have been shown on RAGE.

Larissa after a string of successful shows in Los Angeles and NYC in 2009, returned to the US in late July-August this year to promote her latest EP, In the Clouds, and played two exclusive showcases, one in San Francisco and the other in West Hollywood.

A self-taught keyboardist, Larissa prides herself on her strong and unwavering work ethic, and her ability to write songs that connect with an audience through engaging lyrics and catchy melodies.

“I really enjoy playing and writing with other musicians and songwriters; it brings out a side to creativity that may have been left untouched. It’s also usually a lot of fun and always throws me in the deep end which I love.”
