During her time at JMC, Laura was awarded “Most Outstanding Student of the Year” two years running for her academic and musical achievements. In November 2011 Laura produced, directed and performed in her own cabaret show called Musique played at the Judith Wright Centre receiving outstanding feedback from both music professionals and audience members.
After completing her Bachelor degree in 2011, Laura started her own vocal teaching business, and quickly gained over 40 private students due to her natural teaching abilities and dedication to bringing out the best in her students by passing on valuable skills in solid technique and confident performance, while keeping each and every lesson fun and inspiring. Laura then transitioned into Early Childhood Music Teaching for Hush Little Baby Music in 2015 and continues to perform as a child entertainer seasonally at Santa Land (Myer Centre) for Stage One Productions since 2013. Laura still teaches students from her home studio.
Laura has been involved in various musicals, choirs, plays, TV Advertisements and also a lead vocalist in the UQ Big Band (2011 and 2012). Most recently, Laura has pursued her true love for the stage and production, forming a powerhouse vocal duo, called ROYAL with Opera Studies graduate Samuel Payne. In August 2015, ROYAL brought their premiering stage show, to the residents of the 3 storey open atrium London Woolstore Apartments, producing and organising the entire extravaganza. ROYAL are currently performing smaller size entertainment around sophisticated venues in Brisbane, while touring their “Songbirds in the Atrium” stage show and new shows to festivals, larger venues, and organised events around Australia in 2016.
Laura currently teaches at her home studio in Brisbane. Many of her students have received First Class Honours in ANZCA Singing Exams, leads in school and community theatre musicals, and acceptance into Bachelor of Music degrees under Laura’s instruction.
