Bachelor of Music (Jazz Voice)
Creativity – Integrity – Fun
As a teacher I aim to provide a supportive space to help you achieve your goals, no matter how large or small. I am passionate about singing and music, and I hope that through sharing my experiences as a performer and qualified musician I can expand your passion for them as well, and broaden your musical opportunities. I enjoy teaching students of all ages and levels.
I have limited spaces available at my Northcote home studio, and am happy to travel within 5ks of Northcote for home visits.
I have a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Voice from the Queensland Conservatorium (first class honours), and during my degree I took the renown vocal pedagogy course.
I have been performing primarily as a jazz singer in Brisbane for the past five years with some of the country’s best musicians. I was a finalist in the 2012 National Jazz Awards, a competition open to singers under 35 internationally and held for voice every 6 years, and also a finalist in James Morrison’s Generations in Jazz vocal scholarship.
Aside from traditional jazz, I have also explored contemporary free improvisation, attending the School of Improvised Music’s summer intensive program last year in NYC. I am also interested in contemporary classical music and was asked by Brisbane ensemble Kupka’s Piano to perform Kate Soper’s virtuosic piece Only The Words Themselves Mean What They Say.
* I hold a current Blue Card and have been police checked to work with children *
