I am a music performance and composition student.
I have performed in places such as the Perth Concert Hall and Smetana Hall in Prague and I’m currently principal double bass and principal contrabassoon in the Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra, tutti double bass and principal contrabassoon of the Fremantle Symphony Orchestra, and principal contrabassoon of the Western Australian Youth Orchestra. I am a casual double bassist and clarinettist for the New Plymouth Orchestra in New Zealand, the contrabassoonist of the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts’s Symphonic Wind Ensemble, the bassoonist of the No Strings Attached Wind Quintet, and a causal double bassist of the University of Western Australia Symphony Orchestra. I have also worked in musical pit orchestras playing flute, clarinet, saxophone, and double bass.
I compose for many ensembles, but mostly for high school and university students, including for exams. I have also worked with orchestras performing my works.
My current composing projects include writing a neo-post-romantic opera with elements of jazz and minimalism, a six-hour opera cycle based on the lives of modern musicians, a series of chamber works for Chamber Music New Zealand, and preparing for my composition recital in November 2016 to perform extracts from my Symphonies Nos. 11 (for over 160 orchestral musicians and four choirs) and 12 (for soprano solo and orchestra), an Alto Saxophone Concerto, and a piece for two choirs and orchestra.
