Marie Fox began flute playing as a ten year old, and became a foundation member of the Queensland Youth Orchestra in her teens. She later won a scholarship to join the ABC National Training Orchestra, and subsequently had a busy freelance career in the Symphony Orchestras of Queensland, Tasmania, and Adelaide, as well as the State Opera Companies in those states. Marie has held flute lecturing positions in various tertiary and non-tertiary music institutions, and is currently on the staff of the Newcastle University Conservatorium of Music. She teaches people of all ages and levels, and is also Director of the Newcastle Conservatorium Flute Choir. She is very active in the Newcastle community of flute teachers, and is an AMEB woodwind examiner.
