I have the following music qualifications:
UTLM (Unisa Teacher’s licentiate in Music)
M.Mus (University of Pretoria)
I have 7 years experience in the following instruments:
- piano (up to Licentiate) – guitar ( up to grade 2) – saxophone (up to Grade 7) – accordion (Beginners) – recorder (Beginners) – french horn (up to Grade 7) – flute (beginners) – clarinet (beginnes)
As a community project I have worked together with Home Talje ( home for cerebral palsy children from ages ± 2 – 38) where I gave music therapy as part of my masters degree. I also wrote articles for a magazine about music therapy.
The past 4 years I worked at Hoërskool Warmbad Secondary school as a music teacher. While being at Hoërskool Warmbad I conducted 2 orchestras – a folk orchestra and a “80’s band”. I also played the french horn in 2 symphony orchestras: The Far North orchestra from 1993 – 1996 and in the University of Pretoria’s Symphony orchestra in 2003.
I believe music makes people smarter as I have proven it when I did the music therapy with the cerebral palsy children. Music is my passion and I share that passion with each and every student of mine so that they can love music as much as I do.
