M.Mus - Master of Music - Classical Performance (current), L.Mus.A, A.Mus.A
The musical journey of Australian classical pianist Michael Murray is an unusual one. Although he had tried out piano at the age of five, it was not until the late age of fifteen that he decided to take up piano seriously, after recently having passed his grade two piano exam. From here he worked diligently, and three years later, he was the selected pianist amongst outstanding high school students throughout Sydney to perform solo at the Sydney Opera House. He has also been awarded Highly Commended in the Sydney Eisteddfod KAWAI Open Piano Competition. Rather than follow mainstream and sit through piano exams, he instead bypassed all grades and went on to successfully receive his A.Mus.A and L.Mus.A.
After auditioning for entry into a Bachelor of Music at the Australian Institute of Music, Michael was instead offered a post-graduate position to undertake a Masters in Music (Classical performance) instead. Michael is currently in his final year.
He was one of three adjudicators in the recent ASACEA International Piano Competition, in which his former student was awarded 2nd place.
