Nicholas is a passionate and experienced cellist, having performed professionally on the concert stage for over a decade.
He has performed regularly with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra and previously with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra, including their internationally acclaimed production of Wagner’s Ring cycle in 2004. He has been invitied to play as guest principal cellist for Opera Australia, the Royal Melbourne Philharmonic Orchestra, Camerata of St John’s, and the Australian Youth Orchestra.
Nicholas holds a Bachelor of Music in Performance degree from the Queensland Conservatorium of Music, where he studied with Matthew Farrell between 2000 and 2003. The following year he travelled to Adelaide to further his studies with Janis Laurs at the Elder School of Music.
Nicholas has been awarded distinctions in Associate and Licentiate diplomas from the Australian Music Examinations Board (AMEB), and subsequently received the AMEB Qld Hugh Brandon Memorial Scholarship for the most outstanding performance of 2003.
