Nicholas Pearce: Performance Biography
Since embarking on a professional performance career as a woodwind player in 1984 with the Royal Australian Navy Bands, Nick has performed regularly as a freelance musician and leader of his own ensembles within the Melbourne and Sydney jazz scenes as well as maintaining performance credits across many musical genes, from African reggae to modern improvisation to rock, pop, and Latin American. Nick has become a confident skilled musician on all saxophones, clarinet, bass clarinet with many groups with 30 years of performance.
Apart from leading and composing for his own ensembles, Nick has worked, performed and toured with many of Australia’s acclaimed musicians including performers such as Don Burrows, Yothu Yindi, Angry Anderson, Beccy Cole, Gil Askey, and TV pop star vocalist Hailey Jenson. Nick has performed as a part of Melbourne International Jazz Festival, Festival, Manly Jazz Festival, Wangaratta Jazz Festival, Inverloch Jazz Festival and the Canberra food and wine festiva.
Other high profile performances include playing for WW1 diggers at Anzac Cove in Gallipoli, the Edinborough Military Tattoo, Commonwealth Games Queens Luncheon, to performing for deployed troops in Solomon Islands, Kuwait and Iraq.
