Victorian Certificate of Education - 99.55 ATAR, VCE Music Solo Performance (Violin), VCE Music Investigation (Violin - Solo), AMEB Theory - Grade Five
Olivia is extremely passionate about music and is a current Melbourne Conservatorium of Music B.Mus student (violin) with 1st Class Honours (Performance).
She enjoys communicating through music, using this to bridge the gaps between people of different backgrounds.
Olivia’s love of music began when, as a child, she was given a plastic toy violin. She has since excelled in countless AMEB exams for Violin, Piano and music theory, and has composed extensively.
Olivia believes that music has no doubt been an indispensable factor of her success and that it has also made her a better person; she wishes to inspire and to help as many others as possible to discover the countless wonders and the incredible world of music by teaching violin.
In high school, Olivia was the recipient of the school’s St Cecilia Prize for Music, of ‘Full Colours’ awards and re-awards (for dedication and quality contribution over time) for her work in orchestra, in instrumental small groups and in choral music. She was elected School Music Captain, was concertmaster of the orchestra and performed as a soloist at the school’s annual music concerts, concerto evenings, presentation nights and various other events.
In each year that Olivia competed at the Mildura Eisteddfod, she was awarded the Judith Bridley Memorial Award for best instrumental string player, and at the Swan Hill Eisteddfod, she received the Country Fire Authority’s North West Area Endeavour Award Trophy as well as the Swan Hill Eisteddfod Musicians’ Club Award Trophy for best instrumental soloist at the eisteddfod. In the only year that they competed in it (2010), Olivia’s Senior Piano Trio won the Waverley Eisteddfod, having formed earlier that year.
