Paoley Tjia

General Details

Masters of Teaching, Bachelor of Music (Honours), L.mus.A, A.mus.A

I started playing the piano at 7 years old. My love of music lead me to join the SBS choir, the primary school band as a trumpeter and the string ensemble as a violinist. I attained my A.mus.A in 2004 and my L.mus.A in 2006, both on the piano. I also achieved a Distinction in my 8th grade violin exam in 2005 before deciding that piano was to be my main instrument. In 2010, I traveled to Bad Bertrich, Germany to perform in the Master Classes of the Summer Festival with world-renown pianist, Professor John Perry. Since then, I graduated from the University of New South Wales with a Bachelor of Music (2011), achieving a Distinction for my Honours Thesis and concerto performance with the university orchestra.

My passion has always been to teach music after school hours. My passion for music teaching became greater after I graduated from the University of New South Wales with a Masters of Music Teaching (2013).

I am extremely passionate about music and enjoy working with each student individually to develop the necessary music skills they will cherish for a lifetime. I am a dedicated teacher who will make lessons enjoyable and rewarding whether you seek to play piano for leisure or at a performance level. I have been working with students one on one as well as in small groups depending on the type of lesson being learnt. I offer classical piano, contemporary piano and musicianship lessons.
